Understanding publication analytics

Magazine.io includes basic analytics for each publication, so you can understand how readers are finding and interacting with your content.

Analytics are available from your account dashboard.

Where to find publication analytics

To view analytics:

  • Log in to your Magazine.io account.
  • Go to My Account.
  • Open Analytics.
  • Choose the publication you want to review.

Each publication has its own analytics page, so you can view performance separately for each magazine, catalog, brochure, guide, report, menu, or other PDF publication.

Date ranges

You can view analytics for:

  • Last 7 days
  • Last 30 days
  • Last 90 days

Changing the date range updates the analytics shown on the page.

Views

Views show how many times your publication page was viewed.

For example, if one reader opens the same publication page three times, that may count as three views.

Views help you understand the overall activity level of a publication.

Visitors

Visitors show the number of unique people who viewed your publication page.

Visitors are different from views.

For example:

One person opens your publication page 5 times
Views: 5
Visitors: 1

Visitors are useful for understanding how many individual readers your publication reached.

PDF downloads

PDF Downloads show how many times readers clicked to download the PDF file.

This metric helps you understand how many readers wanted to save, print, or keep a copy of your publication.

Website clicks

Website Clicks show how many times readers clicked the optional website link on your publication page.

This can help you understand whether your publication is sending traffic to your website, store, booking page, contact page, or another destination you added.

If you did not add a website link to the publication, this number may stay at zero.

Views over time

The Views over time chart shows how your publication views changed during the selected date range.

This can help you see:

  • Which days had the most activity
  • Whether traffic increased after sharing the link
  • Whether people are still viewing the publication over time

Visitors over time

The Visitors over time chart shows how many unique readers viewed the publication each day.

This is useful for understanding audience reach, not just repeated page views.

Top countries

The Top countries table shows where your readers are located.

For each country, you may see:

  • Country
  • Visitors
  • Views
  • Visitor share percentage

The percentage bar shows what share of visitors came from each country during the selected date range.

Top referrers

The Top referrers table shows where readers came from before visiting your publication page.

A referrer may be:

  • A search engine
  • A social media site
  • Another website
  • A direct visit

For each referrer, you may see:

  • Referrer
  • Referrer type
  • Visitors
  • Views

This helps you understand which sources are sending traffic to your publication.

Why some numbers may be low or empty

Some analytics sections may show low numbers or no data when:

  • The publication is new
  • The publication has not been shared yet
  • Readers have not downloaded the PDF
  • No website link was added
  • There has not been enough traffic yet
  • Analytics data is still being collected

This is normal, especially shortly after uploading a publication.

Summary

Publication analytics help you understand how each publication performs.

You can track views, visitors, PDF downloads, website clicks, countries, referrers, and traffic trends over the last 7, 30, or 90 days. These stats help you see how readers find your publication and what actions they take after opening it.
