Magazine.io provides publication analytics for recent activity, so you can understand how your publications are performing without storing analytics data forever.
How much analytics history is available?
Publication analytics are available for up to:
- Last 90 days
Inside your analytics dashboard, you can view data for:
- Last 7 days
- Last 30 days
- Last 90 days
These date ranges help you focus on recent publication performance.
Why analytics are limited to 90 days
Magazine.io is designed to show useful, recent publication insights rather than long-term website analytics.
For most PDF publications, the most important activity usually happens shortly after the publication is shared, promoted, emailed, or posted online.
A 90-day analytics window helps you understand:
- How your publication performed after publishing
- Whether people are still viewing it
- Where recent readers came from
- Which countries are reading it
- How many readers downloaded the PDF
- How many readers clicked your website link
What happens to older analytics data?
Analytics data older than the available retention period may no longer be available in your dashboard.
This means that if a publication was viewed or downloaded more than 90 days ago, that older activity may not appear in the current analytics reports.
Visitor privacy and anonymized analytics
Magazine.io analytics are designed to show general publication performance, not to identify individual readers.
Visitor data is anonymized. Magazine.io does not show you personal reader profiles, names, email addresses, or individual browsing histories.
We also do not store visitor IP addresses for publisher analytics.
This means your analytics can help you understand overall trends, such as views, visitors, countries, referrers, downloads, and website clicks, without exposing private information about individual readers.
What analytics can show
Your analytics may show information such as:
- How many times a publication was viewed
- How many unique visitors viewed it
- How many PDF downloads were clicked
- How many website links were clicked
- Which countries visitors came from
- Which websites or sources sent traffic
- How activity changed over time
What analytics cannot show
Magazine.io analytics do not show personal information about individual readers.
For example, analytics do not show:
- Reader names
- Reader email addresses
- Visitor IP addresses
- Individual reader profiles
- A full personal browsing history
This helps keep analytics useful for publishers while respecting reader privacy.
Does this affect the publication itself?
No. Analytics retention only affects historical statistics.
It does not remove your publication, PDF file, cover image, or public publication page.
Your publication can remain online as long as it is active under your account and plan.
Can I see lifetime analytics?
At the moment, Magazine.io focuses on recent analytics for the last 7, 30, and 90 days.
Lifetime analytics are not currently shown in the publisher dashboard.
Why recent analytics are useful
Recent analytics are useful because they help answer practical questions such as:
- Did people view my publication after I shared it?
- Which days had the most activity?
- Are readers still opening the publication?
- Are people downloading the PDF?
- Is my publication sending traffic to my website?
- Which countries are readers coming from?
- Which websites or sources are sending traffic?
For most publishers, these recent insights are more useful than older historical data.
Summary
Magazine.io analytics show recent publication performance for the last 7, 30, and 90 days. Visitor data is anonymized, IP addresses are not stored for publisher analytics, and analytics do not identify individual readers. Older analytics data may no longer be available after the retention period, but this does not affect your live publication or public publication page.
